About Us

School24 (formerly known as SCaMPS) is the first online ordering system for school canteens developed by volunteers for volunteers.

The idea behind School24 was first initiated inside the canteen of a primary school in suburban Sydney.

Like many other parents who have volunteered to help out in our local school canteen, we were surprised at the amount of food being thrown into the bin each day because of double counting and inefficiencies. Even worse, what was supposed to be a few hours of light work and socialising turned out to be far more stressful than we anticipated.

We decided, it was time to put our skills and experience to good use, and develop something to help our local school and other volunteers like ourselves. What we developed was initially just an automated lunch ordering system for one school, but it proved to be so popular that School24 is now helping schools all over the country.

Our only motivation was to help the school community. It feels good to see so many parents and children using it every day.

This is a community, non for profit, and an open project. We invite other parents who have skills that could add value and grow this project, to join us so together we continue providing the best service to the volunteers and parents of our school communities.

School24 will always be driven by our principles:

We are Socially responsible

We value the work of volunteers and school communities and want to help them without reducing the profits they work so hard to generate. We want to see all the profits raised being re-invested back into the school community.

  • We do not lock schools into any short/long term contracts or have any fine print
  • Giving schools full immediate access and control over the parents top-up fund by making sure that every cent transferred goes directly into the school bank account
  • Giving schools and parents access to online software at no charge and not taxing them for using it
We are community oriented

School24 started as a community project to help a local school and it's now serving many school communities Australia wide. We believe that by working together as a community and sharing skills and knowledge, we can advance the values and partnerships that strengthen our society. We believe that by helping a local school, a sporting club or an association, we are helping our kids and future generations.

We believe in the power of volunteers

School24 (Formerly SCaMPS) started from inside a canteen. The idea for School24 came while experiencing the daily challenges faced by volunteers to run a school canteen. We believe in the power of volunteers and that this country is renowned for its capacity to help others. It was demonstrated during the Sydney 2000 Olympic games. The world saw it again in Feb 2009, during the Victoria bushfires. We want to contribute as much as we can to making the jobs of volunteers easier and keep the volunteer spirit alive and strong within our communities.

We're environmentally Responsible

In our first school canteen we saw how one day food was thrown out due to a miscount of the lunch orders. Eliminating or reducing food wastage was one of the driving factors that motivated us to create this service. We believe that doing our bit in saving energy, water, food and looking after the environment is everybody's responsibility.

We want healthy kids

Encouraging healthy eating and fighting obesity are not just slogans (for profit) anymore. They are serious matters that should be taken seriously, morally and ethically by every company. We know how schools across the country are doing their best to produce a health menu for kids and we want to join them in helping and influencing healthy eating habits and fighting obesity. By adding food health ratings, product description, picture insertion and other tools we want to make sure that we give the administrators the flexibility to label and describe each product correctly helping parents understand what their kids eat.

Community

We believe that by working together as a community and sharing skills and knowledge, we can advance the values and partnerships that strengthen our society.

Volunteerism

We believe in the power of volunteers and that volunteers can do what big organisations cannot achieve. Companies do things because they see a profit in it, volunteers do it because they feel it has to be done.

Environment

Helping to reduce food wastage in school canteens is a part of a bigger picture. We believe that saving energy, water, food and looking after the environment is every canteen, tuckshop, parent, business and government's responsibility.

Social Responsibility

Volunteers work hard to raise funds for their school communities. We value the work of volunteers and we want to help them without any profit motivation. We want to give something back to the community through this service.
